South Bay Swim Team Places FIRST at SCAA Winter Championship Meet

CONGRATULATIONS on a fantastic Winter Championship Meet on Sunday! All of your hard work paid off…

Our team earned the MOST POINTS at Sunday’s Winter Championship Meet, coming in first in our division, and, in fact, WINNING the entire meet. GREAT JOB!! We have a very nice team trophy to share with everyone today!

Each and every swimmer who participated yesterday scored points for the team – this was truly a TEAM EFFORT! That means we have lots of medals to share, folks!

nearly 90% of you had at least one personal best time at Winter Champs – WOW!!

    27% had one best time

34% had two best times, and

25% had best time in ALL THREE EVENTS – that is FANTASTIC – so proud of you, swimmers!

High point earner – 147 Points – Adam Hollenback

1st place in his three individual events (3 x 21 points) + 1st place in two relays (2 x 42 points)

Can take the trophy from today, bringing it back on Thursday

Most Time Dropped – Ariana Carranza 35.16 total

She gets to take the trophy home for the entire winter break. After that, each swimmer will get to take it home for a few days at a time. We’ll go in order of most time dropped (i.e. ‘best’ of the personal best times)

-This year, we had a relay entered in EVERY gender and age group

-Relays are important to the team, because they earn DOUBLE points

-Medals are awarded for teams who place 1st, 2nd, and 3rd BUT points are awarded to all teams who place 1st thru 6th

Fall/Winter Season Swim Meets

Some swimmers swam in EVERY swim meet of the season – congratulations to:

-Kyle Crist, Uyen Nguyen, Yen Nguyen, Matt Woicik

+ for the C & C1 swimmers who came to all 6 of the regular meets (not including distance meet)
-Andrew C, Isabel C, Lauren C, Logan, Nicholas, Leah, Audrey, Eric

High School Swimmers

-Good luck to Aidan, Andy, Johny, Jonathan, & Sarah at they move into high school swimming season. Always welcome to join us for a workout during the season. Have a great high school swimming season, and we’ll see you back ‘officially’ after CIF in May.

Parents

THANK YOU for all your help with all the ‘jobs’ we were assigned by the league. We really appreciate you pitching in to help make this meet run as smoothly as possible. I realize there were some ‘hitches’ this time around – some of you did not get relieved on time, others went to the wrong lanes, etc. If you have suggestions for how we could make this part of the meet run more smoothly, please share your ideas! Would like to make this as easy as possible for each of you. We are lucky to have so many fantastic team parents with SOBA!

This was a FANTASTIC way to end the season! We are so thrilled for our team, and so excited for all of your successes at winter champs.

Coach Kathy and all your coaches – Amber, Dede, Mark, Mary & Ruby

P.S. Parents, don’t forget to email me with some good photos from Sunday’s meet!
