SOBA & 2010 Summer Junior Olympics

We had double the number of Junior Olympic qualifiers from 2009 but between water polo and Jr Guard events we lost swimmers from 8 races.  This is the biggest reason we are going to only Spring JO’s going forward.

Team support came from Alex, Ryan & Joycelyn Fuqua who came out to cheer on Sunday.  Kaitlyn & Darlene Rourke and Laurel, Kevin & Alice Matsui came and watched Breana in the finals, swam in the warmup pool and loved staying overnight in the university dorms across the way.  Coach Kathy came for Monday relay day which was capped off with the now traditional water balloon toss. 

Highlights:

LOTS of Spring JO qualifiers including 11-12 girls (Gabi, Breana, Bridgette, and Leana) and boys (Nick, Jacob, Matt, and Jake) relays that both scored points;

Kyle 100 free, Tara breast, Matt 100 free, Breana 100 free, Leana 50 back 
   

Jonathan had a best time in 100 back, Matt lowered his spring JO times

Kaitlyn Rourke had a fabulous relay exchange and was so far under the blue time standard that I’ve put her in the blue club.  

This year added the “bucket of water toss” by Domingo Carranza!

Biggest surprise was Breana making the medal round in the finals, scoring most of our team points and qualifying for….

SECTIONALS!?!?!?!?  Holy Cow!!!
