2023 Summer Championship Meet Success

CONGRATULATIONS on a fantastic SCSL Summer Championship Meet!

SOBA earned over 3,763 points at the 2023 SCSL Summer Championship Meet, coming in 2nd place overall - earning a nice Trophy. Considering 2/3 of our SOBA meet participants swam one day only, this is a huge WIN!

These 25 Swimmers went “all in” and swam BOTH Days of Summer Champs. Kudos to: Ella, Juliet, Teo, Adalyn, Emmett, Amanda, Raphael, Diana, Emma, Grace, Katie, Skylar, Ethan, An-Yi, Arabelle, Isaac, Luca, Yuka, Jozie, James, John, Kai, Sao, Sky and Sofia W – Way to Go! Some swimmers did Saturday only events and other swimmers did Sunday only events - great job swimmers!

Medals are awarded for 1^st-6^th Place finishes in individual AND relay events. And, points are awarded for finishes up to 16^th place – wow!

Nearly every swimmer who participated scored points for the team – this was truly a TEAM EFFORT!

Most Time Dropped – Grace E  55.05 total
She gets to take the trophy home for the entire Summer Break. Way to go Grace! Next runner up is Arabelle, who dropped 33.46! Close runners-up are Sydney Kinter 30.70, Raphael C-K 28.05, Loyal Gray 27.22, Nick Mullen 26.99, Nicholas Zarkos 26.34, Evan Yeung 23.61, Johnny Yonemura 19.53

SOBA High Point Earners – Sao S 196 Points
Sao swam 6 individual events placing 1^st in 5, and 3^rd in 1 = 116 individual points + and swam on both the Medley and Freestyle relays, which also placed 1^st (2 x 40 points). Congratulations Sao! - you get to take the team trophy home this week (bring back Friday). Close runners-up are: Katie F 175 Points; Kai S 151, Skylar H 146; Sky T 144 Points; Ethan H 143 (Sky and Ethan just had one relay – so this is really impressive!

SCSL High Point Award Winner: Sao S won the SCSL High Point Trophy for the Boys 9-10 age group – Congratulations Sao! At Championship Meets, SCSL awards a high point award for the swimmer who earned the most points in their individual events – up to 120 points (1^st place = 20 points, and up to 6 events)

The Team Trophy
After our ‘most time dropped’ achievers and our high point earners have had their time with the trophy, each swimmer will have the opportunity to take it home for a few days at a time. We’ll go in order of most time dropped (i.e. ‘best’ of the personal best times)

Relays at Champs
We don’t get to do relays often, so it’s really special when we have so many relay teams at champs meets! This year, we had a relay entered in almost every gender and age group – and in some cases, two relays per event. Relays are important to the team, because they earn DOUBLE points. Relays are a unique group experience for swimmers. We tried to offer relay spots to as many swimmers as possible.
