CONGRATULATIONS on a fantastic Winter Championship Meet! South Bay Swim Team earned the most points at Sunday's Winter Championship Meet, coming in first in our division and winning the entire meet. We had double the number of Junior Olympic qualifiers from 2009 but between water polo and Jr Guard events we lost swimmers from 8 races. This is the biggest reason we are going to only Spring JO’s going forward. Team support came from Alex, Ryan & Joycelyn Fuqua who came out to cheer on Sunday. Kaitlyn & Darlene Rourke and Laurel, Kevin & Alice Matsui came and watched Breana in the finals, swam in the warmup pool and loved staying overnight in the university dorms across the way. We had a good showing of SOBA Strength at the May 15 Bruin “Day of Sprints” meet held at the new Spieker Pool on the UCLA Campus. I was recently recommended and accepted to participate as a student leader in the People to People Student Ambassador program. I will be traveling to Japan this summer with 30 other 7th and 8th graders from the Los Angeles area.
